Spring Newsletter

April 6, 2010

Greetings!

Well, we don’t know about you but we’re very glad to be bidding Old Man Winter farewell for another year. Spring is around the corner and little tell-tale signs are appearing everywhere. The bitterly cold days are becoming fewer, the sun is beginning to peek out of the clouds a little more often and the birds are beginning to sing. You can almost feel the anticipation amongst all of God’s beautiful creation.

Spring is bringing many exciting things our way too. The new year has gotten off to a great start although we did have some challenges with snow and ice this year. We apologize to any of you that had tickets for the original dates and couldn’t make it to our rescheduled concerts.

We also just finished up the Singing At Sea Cruise for another year and we had a great time. On Tuesday night we held a meet & greet for all our friends that traveled with us. We sang a little, gave out some special thank you gifts and just had a relaxed and personable time; Gerald Wolfe and Scott Fowler snuck in during our time with our friends and we pulled both groups up on the stage and sang a song with them too. The final night of the cruise we performed a Jubilee concert with Greater Vision and Legacy Five; we have such a great time with these two groups!! The weather was a little chilly in the Bahamas but we still had a lot of fun! If you are making plans to go next year be sure to register early. This cruise always sells out very quickly; and make sure to list the Booth Brothers as your host group. We’ve added some pictures from the cruise to the website so be sure to visit our photo galleries!

New Album Coming Soon!

If you have been to a Booth Brothers Concert recently, then you’ve probably heard some great new material that isn’t even available yet; songs such  “We Believe” and “I See Grace”. Well, we will be releasing our newest recording soon and we can’t wait to share it with you. The two songs mentioned above only scratch the surface of what will be included in this new album.

We partnered with Christian music’s renowned producer, Lari Goss and together we have created a CD that we feel declares what the Booth Brothers believe and proclaim. We’ve pulled out all the stops – the songs, the orchestration, the vocals – everything about this project is top notch! Ronnie feels it may be the group’s best yet.  Stay tuned to our website and emails – we’ll let you know as soon as it is available.

Refresh and Renew – Orlando, FL

By now, you’ve proabably heard about our first annual Refresh & Renew Retreat to be held November 19-21, 2010 in Orlando, FL. We sent out an email blast two weeks ago and we are off to a fantastic start. The response has been great.

We would love to have you join us for a great weekend. We are planning three days of music, laughter and spiritual encouragement. All of this will take place in the beautiful Peabody Hotel in Orlando. This is a great opportunity for you and your family to get away, enjoy all that the retreat will offer, the beautiful Florida weather and a luxurious hotel for an affordable price.  The Peabody Hotel sits in the midst of many attractions, restaurants, shopping, golf and other entertainment. Consider making an entire vacation out of your trip.

Knowing that God’s Word says that a “merry heart doeth good like a medicine” weare> pleased to announce that Aaron Wilburn will be joining us on Friday night at the Peabody and Dennis Swanberg will be our special guest on Saturday night. Put all your burdens away for a few days and join us for music, laughter and some encouraging spiritual food from God’s Word.

A FEW THINGS TO NOTE WHEN MAKING YOUR TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS:

  • We know that this event falls close to Thanksgiving so be sure to book your airline reservations early to avoid paying premium holiday prices for your airfare.
  • Also, many of you have called the office asking what time the event will be over. We are planning to end the event no later than 1:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
  • The hotel also offers a shuttle service to and from the airport but there is a charge for this service.

Declaration Tour 2010

We’ve eased into the 2010 schedule but things are ramping up and life is about to get really busy.  Last year we did our very first west coast tour and we wanted to give our friends out west plenty of notice that we’re coming your way again this year. Some of these dates are ticketed events and may have VIP receptions and reserved seating so don’t wait too long to purchase your tickets as these tend to sell out first.

Making Memories

January 8, 2010

Written by Kim Booth

Happy New Year to all of you!!! The holidays have come and gone and although we had a sweet time with our children and family, honestly, I’m ready for life to get back to normal. It’s been wonderful having Ronnie at home for the last few weeks but I think he is ready to meet the New Year with his running shoes on.  The Booth Brothers have some very exciting things coming up in 2010 and you can feel the anticipation of the staff to get this new year going.

During the holidays Ronnie and I went to visit my family in Florida. We arrived on Christmas night and spent several days visiting with them.  One word of advice to any of you planning to visit Florida and do the whole theme park thing – never, never, ever go to Disney World during Christmas!!!!  If you want to test how strong your Christian testimony is and your love for total strangers then go at Christmas time – otherwise I would strongly advise you to steer clear of that place during any holiday. Ronnie and I were both raised in Florida and I’ve probably been to Disney World 50 times in my life but I have never seen that place like it was a few days ago!!!!  I’m not sure that words can adequately describe the chaos that was at that theme park that day!! And, to make matters worse it was freezing cold and windy.  Ladies, isn’t it interesting to observe our husbands when they are put in these situations?  My husband is one of the sweetest and most patient men on the planet but let me tell you – EVERYONE – even Ronnie Booth, has a limit. Because I know him so well, I could tell that he was not overjoyed with the situation – who could be??  I got this sense that my husband was a simmering pot of something getting ready to boil over at any minute although every time he said anything he said it with a smile.  For some reason this gave me the giggles…I think it was a nervous reaction to the angst of knowing I had pushed for us to do this wonderful “family thing” at Christmas time and that Ronnie was trying to be the sweet, patient and understanding husband.

After several hours of dealing with lines and masses of people we finally gave up on trying to “get our money’s  worth”  and decided to take a shuttle back to our hotel. At one point, while waiting for our bus, I realized that Ronnie wasn’t with us and I began searching the crowd for him.  I saw this faint figure off in the distance slowly pacing back and forth and realized that I recognized that gait…I think he was mumbling to himself too. Daniel, who also knows his father well, simply turned to me and said “uh-oh.”

After waiting for over 45 minutes for our shuttle to arrive, we hauled our weary bodies onto what we thought was going to be a quiet ride back to our hotel.  WELL!  Have you ever taken a bus ride with at least 70 complete strangers???? Oh, the bus doesn’t hold 70 people you say???  It does if you’re all standing like dominoes and holding on to a little strap that dangles from a bar that goes the whole length of the bus; there was an interesting array of smells and odors in those close quarters too.  Believe me,  it’s not a wonderful experience to have 70 other people in your personal space as you hold on for dear life while the bus driver “hangs ten” on the corners! When you combine the 70 fellow passengers with a ride that rivaled Space Mountain it made for an interesting end to the entire nightmare of Disney. Finally, my ever-patient, ever-kind husband turned to me with a very serious look on his face and simply said, “This is it for me…” and somehow I have no doubt that he means it!!!  I think from now on, I’ll have to hold my previous memories of Disney more fondly since I don’t think we’ll be doing THAT tourist thing ever again!!!

As for the clean slate of a new year – the guys sang last week in Daytona Beach and Ronnie and I had a couple of hours drive from my parents’ home in Sebring to the concert. This gave us a little time to talk about the things we would like to accomplish in 2010.  I’ve never been one to make New Year’s resolutions since I don’t seem to ever keep them but there are some things I would like to accomplish this year. Of course there are the typical things that I always try to do like being more organized, reading my Bible more, getting in shape…but one very specific thing that I want to improve upon is being more grateful for EVERYTHING in my life. EVERYTHING means simply EVERYTHING.  EVERYTHING means the little insignificant things as well as the obvious things…EVERYTHING even means the difficulties.  I know it sounds trite – but it’s through the difficulties that we, as Christians, learn more about how faithful our God is. It is through our difficulties that we learn that our God is sovereign and that He can be trusted. It is through difficulty that we learn how to walk confidently – knowing that all things are in His control and that He will NEVER leave us or forsake us.  In 2010 I pray that I will be more conscious of ALL He is doing in my life – in the good times and the difficult times – knowing for certain that He is doing a good work in me.
